Xpu Ha (pronounced Ish pu ha) is a resort area and is located in between Playa del Carmen and Tulum. Come here to enjoy white sand and turquoise water.
If you are in Cancun, it takes approximately an hour to arrive, if you are in Playa del Carmen it will take you 20 minutes and 50 mins from Puerto Morelos.
How To Get Here
You can get here by car. You can also reach Playa Xpu Ha by taking a collectivo (shared van) from Playa del Carmen. We have not taken the collectivo there, we took a taxi. The main bus depot in Playa del Carmen is located at 2nd Avenue and 20th street.
Lodging
There are a few lodging in Xpu ha such as Serenity Eco luxury Glamping and Hotel Esencia. Also Boho Echo-chic boutique Resort in Akumal.
Entrance Fee
The entrance fee for Playa Xpu Ha is $50 pesos (approx $2.50 USD) per person. You pay at the entrance and you are given a wristband for admission to the beach.

Playa Xpu Ha is open daily from 10:00am–6:00pm.
Tips for budget traveler
Instead of the beachclub, you can bring your own cooler, umbrella and chairs.
Beachclubs
La Playa Xpu Ha Beach Club
La Playa Xpu-Ha Beach Club is a beachfront restaurant. Their menu is Mexican/American such as nachos, tacos, hamburgers, seafood, beer, cocktails, etc. You can find more information on their website here. I especially like their live music. It makes it lively.
Serenity Beach Club
The beach club is open daily from 10:30am-6:00pm. The cost is 500 pesos per person for consumption.
If you’re staying at the hotel then the beach chairs are free.
Things to do
-Get a massage on the beach. There is a 30- minute and 50-minute massages. 50 mins full-body relaxing massage costs $40 USD approx 600 pesos. Located next to Serenity Beach Club, you will see a beach massage white tent with two tables.
There is a spa at the Serenity Eco Camp.

Sargassum
There is an increased growth of the seaweed which are blown by winds and waves and onto the coastal beaches of the Riviera Maya. When we were there, there wasn’t in front of the beachclub because they clear it up but farther down you will see sargassum pile up.
In conclusion, we really like this beautiful beach.
